<Part 1>
People find it hard to retain what they optained from reading. About 80% of what you learn is likely to disappear from you memory in just 48 hours. To prevent this from happening, you can TAKE NOTES.
While you take notes, you tend to organize the information by using key words. If you organize, you are likely to remember what they were, where they are, just like in organizing your room/desk.
Methods of taking notes.
1. Capture-Create
Remember to HAND-WRITE notes instead of typing it down.
When you hand-write, you tend to organize and filter information as opposed to when you write everything down by typing.
Take a piece of paper and draw a line in the middle.
On the left side, you capture information. (Note Taking) - Organize, Observe
On the right side, you are creating. (Note Making) - Questions, Inference, Application, Impression, Imagination
2. Mind Mapping
Take a pice of paper.
Write the main idea in the middle.
Diverge branches like a tree.(Sub-ideas)
By mind mapping, you can see the whole idea at once, like an image, which is how the brain processes information, opposed to other linear note taking.
<Part 2>
3. Quadrants
Put the main idea in the middle.
For each quadrant, give it a question(Who? What? When? Where? etc)
Write down notes that relate to each question.
